ALFRED, NY (Oct. 31) – Alfred University’s Inamori School of Engineering will host the annual John Francis McMahon Lecture at 11:20am Nov. 17 in Holmes Auditorium. George Quinn, Guest Lecturer at the National Institute of Standards and Technology, in Gaithersburg, Md., will present “Adventures in Applying Fractography to Modern Glass and Ceramic Fractures and to Ancient Roman Glass.”

Dr. Matthew M. Hall, Alfred University (AU) associate professor of biomaterials and glass science and Center for Advanced Ceramic Technology (CACT) director, and Dr. Timothy J. Keenan, CACT project manager, were in attendance at the New York State Additive Manufacturing Scoping Session held at the General Electric’s Global Research Center in Niskayuna, NY earlier this month to discuss the potential for ceramic materials in the additive manufacturing industry.

Alfred University (AU) graduating seniors Margaret Schrecongost from East Aurora and Kathryn Tierney of Lewiston are recipients of a 2016 State University of New York (SUNY) Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence. They were among 248 students from 64 campuses within the state system to receive the honor, in Albany, earlier this spring from SUNY Chancellor Nancy Zimpher.
